ROW THE DOCKS – Saturday 27th July 2013

On Saturday 27th July 2013 “Sir Harry” is being crewed by crew members of the Southampton Harbour Masters Patrol launch plus Skips racing against “Chimaera” crewed by a team of Southampton Pilots. Please click here to sponsor this event. In aid of The Joe Glover Trust.

Sir Harry and Chimaera were joined by another Bursledon Gig, owned by Kevin Shepherd. The Gigs started at Eling at 1245, with Sir Harry taking the lead early on and led all the way to the finish, closely followed by Kevin Shepherd with Chimaera a further 10 minutes behind. The winners completed the 8 mile race in approximately 1 hr 40 min.

After the great success of the Pilot/Patrol Docks rowing race last year, the crew of Southampton Patrol have challanged the Pilots to a re-match. The winning team will be presented the rowers cup, which was last year one by the Patrol team.

The Pilot/Patrol race is to take place again this year on the 27th July 2013, to raise money for the ABP charity of the year, The Joe Glover Trust.
