National Scout Rifle Championships

30 June 2013

Added : Sunday 30th June 2013

We are sending a team to the National Scout Rifle Championships to be held at Bisley on 18th – 20th October 2013.

Because of the interest shown and the limited numbers of entries we can make, it is necessary to attend a selection session. I will be running two sessions one today Sunday 30th June 1000 – 1130 and one on Tuesday 2nd July 2013 1900 – 2030, both sessions will be run in our HQ in Station Road. It is intended to give all our Scouts the opportunity to enter this event, even novices, providing an aptitude is demonstrated for shooting skills. Instruction is given. For the more experienced marksman, three cards of 5 shots with one practice card will be used to determine the highest score using either an Air Arms S200 or Air Arms MPR 400 rifle, these are the same as used in competition. Prospective team members will be notified before Friday 5th July, whereby we will need confirmation of attendance by way of completed entry form and a deposit of £20.

I will be running practice sessions for all members of the Troop and Explorers next term. It is expected that members of the team will be at these practice sessions. Dates and times to be confirmed, but will probably be on a Tuesday evening.

We are also looking for parental help in running this event, both in transport to and from Bisley and during the camp. Please speak to Skip if you can help.

All Scouts must have a valid permission to shoot form prior to taking part in this activity.
